Meet the team - Rasmus Tretow

Let's meet our team! First out is Rasmus, a 34-year-old guy born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. As one of the founders of Botanium he is doing a little bit of everything - from customer support to managing the design of the product and conducting plant experiments at the office. Botanium was born out the love for growing plants and creating useful products. Before Botanium he worked with industrial design, both as a consultant and at a design firm. Let’s get to know him a little better.

How do you spend your free time?
I’m a plant geek on my spare time as well. I love growing chili peppers hydroponically, but I also like playing squash, and spending time in nature. I’m very interested in meditation, Buddhism and mindfulness. That being said, coffee is my religion.

Can you tell something that many do not know about you?
I enjoy going to the occasional forest rave.

What motivates and inspires you in your job?
What really excites me about working at Botanium is the combination of design and plants, two things I’m passionate about. To build a successful brand and make products that hopefully has an impact and make people more interested in growing also motivates me.

How do you think Botanium can make a difference in the world?
My hope is that Botanium can turn more people into growers and thereby connecting us more to nature. Plants affect humans is so many positive ways and we need more of them in our homes - especially if we don’t have access to nature. It should be easy to grow your own food, so you know that it’s fresh and free from contaminants.

What do you love about your job?
To come up with new ideas, work with design related problems, create new products and to hear from customers that enjoy our products and support us.

What do you value in a leader?
I think a good leader should have integrity and a clear vision, yet be empathic and respectful.

Let's end with some quick and fun questions.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be?
My cat seems to have a pretty good life!

What 3 things would you take to a desert island?
I’m tempted to say Botanium and a solar charger, but I assume this is a tropical island with lots of wild chili peppers growing. Let’s go with a hammock, solar powered speakers and a bottle of whiskey.

What is your motto in life?
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.” - Steve Jobs

Thanks, Rasmus!
